Spring 2011 - Sunday 24th April was not only Easter Sunday but also the official opening of the War Shelter and Tunnel, harbour defence pill-box and 1940’s ‘Cottage’ Room and was the culmination of many, many hours of work by volunteers to restore these buildings to their former glory. Hundreds of visitors were welcomed to the Battery on what was a beautiful and hot sunny day.
     
Winter 2010 - Saturday 4th December saw 20 floats and approximately 350 people take part in the annual Brixham Carnival procession. Earlier in the day there was heavy rain but fortunately this stopped about 4.30pm and the carnival got under way. Led by local Town Crier, Tony Criddle and Okehampton Marching Band Battery members joined many other organisations in the regular event which was enjoyed by the many who lined the town’s streets.
Autumn 2010 - As reported in the Herald Express on 21st October, the War Shelter Restoration Appeal has reached the halfway mark. Over the last five months the group has been hard at work fundraising as well as receiving the support of donors such as the Port of Brixham Trawler Race Association and the Southwest Branch of the National Service (Royal Air Force) Association.
     
Summer 2010 - As reported in the local press, our website and last quarter’s newsletter the War Shelter Repair and Restoration Appeal was successfully launched during our D-Day Anniversary Weekend events over the 5th & 6th June.
Spring 2010 - Following the recent bout of vandalism in Battery Gardens, Brixham Battery Group are launching a ‘War Shelter Repair and Restoration Appeal'.
     
Winter 2009 - We have now received updated estimates from the builders regarding the refurbishment of the War Shelter. Our Heritage Lottery Fund grant application is now being prepared and will be submitted soon.
Autumn 2009 - The Battery’s 10th anniversary celebrations started on Saturday August 29th with one of our usual fund raising coffee mornings at the Methodist Community Hall in Fore Street.
     
Summer 2009 - During the first half of 2009 there have been a number of restorations taking place around the Battery. In January the Pill Box restoration continued despite below freezing temperatures.
December 2008 - It is with regret that I have to announce the passing of one of our founder members Mr Harry Moores. Harry was always full of energy getting stuck in whenever there was a job to be done.
     
December 2007 - The Committee and membership of the Group have been very busy over the past year. As 2007 draws to a close lets review our achievements so far this year.
December 2006 - After the many ‘Red Tape’ delays of the past 2 years, work has now started on our Heritage Lottery Funded ‘Photo and Sound Archive’ building.
